More MAC Releases... Style Warrior

MAC is gunning for my wallet this coming summer. On May 28th, they are scheduled to release Style Warrior a collection complete with a special packaging. The collection is "Made to celebrate the cross-cultural sophistication of the modern Amazon Princess, African Queen, Crouching Tigress...". Ummm Ok...!

I'm looking forward to the Skinsheen and the Iridescent Loose Powder. Check out more pictures from this fierce collection at ThisThatBeauty and Temptalia.

I'm actually running out of places to put this MAC stuff.

I might skip out on one of these collections and purchase a new camera. Then I might actually be able to show you some FOTD.
Any camera suggestions?

Why Does Every Single Scene in This Video Make Me Want to Play With Makeup?

The video is entitled "Je T'aime Quand Meme" and its from my favorite gal Tina. The Zouk singer's latest album, Couleurs Du Monde is amazing.

I'll hopefully be back with the tools she (or her makeup artist) used to get the look.

Why I Roll With MAC

My BF asked me why I love to shop at MAC the other day. While there are a lot of reasons why I continue to support this brand (the color selections, the company's history, overall quality...), the reason that truly keeps me coming back is the MAC AIDS Fund. It feels good to know that I'm supporting a company that gives so much back to those who truly need it.

The MAC AIDS Fund through The Caribbean Initiative program has given over $4.5 million in grants to address HIV/AIDS related needs in the Caribbean. If you've been keeping up with my blog, you probably know that I am Haitian. So this program holds a very dear place in my heart.

What is the Caribbean Initiative?

"Through the Caribbean Initiative, the M·A·C AIDS Fund has sought to find a wide range of organizations addressing critical aspects of the AIDS epidemic in the Caribbean. Although the Caribbean is rightly thought of by many people as a spectacular tourist destination, it is also a part of the world that has been hard hit by the AIDS epidemic. Next to sub-Saharan Africa, the Caribbean has the world’s highest HIV infection rate, with Haiti and the Dominican Republic together accounting for 85% of the region’s HIV infections. In three of the seven countries in this region - the Bahamas, Haiti and Trinadad and Tobago - more than 2% of the adult population is living with HIV and because of low testing rates, experts believe that these numbers far underestimate the true impact of the epidemic. At the end of 2006, an estimated 250,000 people were living with HIV/AIDS in the Caribbean, with 27,000 new infections occurring that year alone. AIDS is now one of the leading causes of death among those aged 15-44. More than half of adults living with the virus are women, and heterosexual sex is the primary form of transmission in the region.

These numbers are staggering and discouraging, but it is not too late. Under the Caribbean Initiative, M·A·C AIDS Fund has funded groups tackling the key issues in the islands, treatment through provision of antiretroviral therapy, community led prevention and treatment education, legal advise for people with HIV/AIDS, prevention through family planning centers, and journalism. The M·A·C AIDS Fund views this Initiative as the beginning of its commitment to this important part of the world."

MAC's Naked Honey Collection

Although I'm still on a bit of a MAC vacation, I'm super excited about the upcoming Naked Honey Launch.

Thankfully, Temptalia has some preliminary pictures from the collection including a blush that looks very close to Nars' Tahj Mahal.

The honey based skincare products from this collection should also be a hit.
See more of Temptalia's sneak peek, click here. Temptalia also has product photos and other information here.

This collection is scheduled to come out on June 11th in North America.

I've Been Partying and it Shows

For the last few months, I have been the victim of dark eye circles. I think its a combination of wearing my glasses more often then I used to as well as the party life I've been leading (with pride!) .

While my concealer has been a doing a good job of hiding the damage, I decided to try an eye cream to avoid a dependence on concealers. My aunt recommended Clinique's Advanced Stop Sign Eyes, which contains an SPF of 15.

I've been trying it for a month now and I feel like its time for a review.

After a month of using this product, most of the puffiness is gone. But I feel like the lack of puffiness was because I stopped wearing my glasses.. I can't call this a miracle product because things are not quiet as great as I was hopping they would be by now. I still have a lot of darkness so I guess I'm still in search of the perfect eye cream.

This is not one of Clinique's finer products, in my opinion. While I like the fact that this product has an SPF 15, it is still nothing to write home about. If you're someone with moderate under eye issues, like my aunt, this may be for you. However, I will be heading back to the drawing board.

Any recommendation?

I'm Back!

My Little vacation is over. I went away for a couple of weeks to enjoy some relaxation and Carnival in Haiti. Just to give you an idea of what I saw (carnival-wise) during my trip, here are some pictures. I tried to keep these makeup related.

Silicon Mix with Pearl Extract

During my trip to Haiti a few weeks ago, I stumbled on the deep conditioner, Silicon Mix proteina de Perla at a supermarket. Its a deep conditioner from the Dominican Republic. I bought one to try out, which was cool since it was under $6.

Directions: "Wash Hair and apply with message. Leave on 3 or more minutes depending on the condition of the hair. Rinse"

Claims: "Fortifying Hair Treatment...repairs and nourishes the hair giving the shine, vitality and softness it needs to look healthy and smooth. Contains Pearl Extracts, a natural marine product that rejuvenates and fortifies the hair and Lustre Finish to create lustrous and healthy looking hair and repel humidity, avoiding Frizz"

How I used it: I applied it to dry hair and sat under the dryer for 45 minutes. I rinsed it off in the shower. I then shampooed and rinsed with a conditioner for about 2 minutes.

Experience: The smell and look of the product threw me off. Its light blue and smells strongly like cleaning solution. But it proved to be very moisturizing. So much so that I would consider it to be a moisturizing conditioner rather then a protein one. My hair had pretty good slip and it didn't smell funny afterwards (as I had assumed, considering the smell of the product.

Verdict: Overall, a pretty good product. More then worth the price and the slip it provided was pretty admirable. I would purchase this again and wouldn't mind using it as a regular deep conditioner.

Do you have any experience with this product? What's your verdict?
